Features We Don't Like

Battery life is predictably 'ok'

The battery life of a gaming laptop cannot be considered remarkable, and the Alienware m15 is no exception. Although you can get around 7 hours of battery life when playing less intensive games, if you're looking to play modern games at their highest settings, expect to only get about 3 to 4 hours.

Looks

The Alienware m15 is a sleek and lightweight laptop that will fit nicely into any bag. It has a total weight of around 3.4 pounds and measures 12.5 x 9.4 x 1.3 inches in dimensions.

Display

The m15 has one of the better TN screens with a 1920x1080 resolution and an average 342 nits typical brightness. Due to its TN panel, it suffers from poor viewing angles.

Performance

The Alienware m15 is powered by a superb Core i7 processor that makes it a great choice for gaming. It can handle any modern game in high definition at around 60FPS, and it handles graphics-intensive games like PUBG flawlessly and without losing much performance. The Intel Core i7-8750H processor, 16GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, and NVIDIA GTX 1070 will leave you impressed.

Ports

The Alienware m15 has all the ports you can ask for. It features a total of two USB 3.1 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, a headset jack, and an SD card reader. With all these ports, connecting external devices to your laptop has never been easier or quicker.

Audio

The speakers of the m15 are also above average in terms of performance and quality. Although they can't go toe to toe with headphones, they have enough power and punch to fill a small room comfortably.

Battery

The m15 is a great choice for gamers looking for a laptop with long battery life. Under normal use, it should last you around 7 hours. In our testing, we got about 6 hours of regular use and 8 to 9 hours during low-load activities like web browsing or video streaming. Considering the hardware it houses, this is a great result and one of the best in this class.

Storage

The m15 houses a 128 GB M.2 NVMe SSD and a 1 TB HDD. The NVMe gives you faster speeds for gaming, while the HDD offers more storage space.

Graphics

The graphics card is the highlight of the Alienware m15. It houses a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and will give you decent gaming performance for the price.

Should I Buy This Laptop?

Do you need an affordable gaming laptop with dedicated graphics? If so, then the Alienware m15 is a good choice. A laptop based around the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card can’t be expected to deliver stellar gaming performance. On some systems, you may get playable frame rates, and in others, you might not. The m15 is certainly better than most laptops in its price range, but on systems with high power requirements (i.e. a high clock speed), you may see short frame rates and frame stutter.
